DAILY REPORT:

On the afternoon of 17 Jun, we held a ceremonial send off at the Bremerton Boys and Girls Club located at 900 Olympic Ave. Stacy Dore' and her staff did a super job of putting together a dynamite program. The program started with a general introduction of the Riding4Hope Cycling Team. The bicycle ride was presented to the boys and girls in the gym followed with a question and answer session. There were lots of good questions from the kids.

The 100 or so boys and girls were broken into four groups to attend four different workshops: 1) Personal bike safety, 2) How to adjust you bike, 3) Rules of the Road, and 4) Helmet safety. The West Sound Cycling Club and the new West Sound Triathlon Club provided instructors for the work shop. A special thanks goes to the instructors - Don Czeczok, Ernie Wong, David Burns, and the Mackovjak's - John, James, & David.

After the bike workshop the Ceremony was kicked off by Cris Larsen as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event. He did a great job welcoming everyone and talking about the Riding4Hope charity bike ride. He introduced the riders and thanked the major sponsors which consisted of Peninsula Subaru, First Command Financial Services, and Faccina Global Services. Then Ron Testa of First Command presented a $2500 donation to the Boys and Girls Club and the Wounded Warrior Project and David Acton of Faccina Global Services presented $1,000. The Riding4Hope Team introduced their team and discussed their upcoming ride and goals for the 3900 mile trip which will take 43 days to arrive at their final destination of VA Beach.

There was a group picture of everyone with the Riding4Hope car and trailer. During that time the Kitsap Sun conducted several interviews of the riders. The story can be found here.

The Bremerton Youth Academy put on a wonderful drill parade.

The program concluded with a BBQ which the food was donated by COSTCO and Pepsi Cola. A special thanks to the Boys and Girls club staff and Stacy's husband (the BBQ griller!!) who made this all possible!!
